NIKE Super Bowl Traz Powell Stadium

As the world was preparing for Super Bowl LIV in Miami, Nike wanted to leave a legacy in the city with the newly renovated Traz Powell Stadium, providing local athletes with access to safe places to play and train. The stadium, one of the most sustainable Nike-designed football fields, minimized its environmental footprint and was designed for today’s athletes and for future generations. Throughout the track and field, stadium, press box and locker rooms, this mindful approach extended to the materials, waste system, lighting and surrounding greenery. Refurbished courts and stadiums – like the new Nathaniel Traz Powell – can inspire the surrounding community to get outside and play more. Nike invests in community partners, schools and grassroots programs to provide more opportunities for play and sport.

Celebrating  mentors and coaches everywhere as well as athletes, the stadium was named after the Miami sports legend Nathaniel “Traz” Powell, who inspired so many to reach for excellence and pursue a positive way of life. Known for being a standout athlete, he was also a brilliant high school head coach.

Appropriately named, this football complex is the home field for seven local high school teams in the Miami-Dade School District Throughout the stadium are elements that reflect each of the schools’ respective team identities, including through a series of murals ABSTRKT was invited to curate with a series of local artists. Each pulled elements from the stadium’s history and colors to help inspire the local community as well as the generations of players which will train in this state of the art facility.
